The existing library consists of three areas:

• Reading area.
• Learning / Children’s area.
• Staff office / kitchen / toilet.

Current issues

• There is no formal meeting space.
• There are no customer toilets, the one currently only available for staff is cramped and not to standard.
• The current building has significant damp issues.
• No accessible facilities or parking.

The main area of the existing library will remain in its current configuration other than a new entrance door and store to the rear.

The new library extension will consist of:

• A formal meeting area.
• Accessible WC facilities for library users.
• A dedicated area for storage of tables and chairs to allow for space flexibility.
• A dedicated area for safe storage of cleaning materials to comply with health and safety.
• Catering facilities.
• Accessible patio area for secure outdoor play.
• New sustainable heating arrangements using PV panels and an AHU unit.
