The Friends of Honley Library (FoHL) group was established in 2014 to campaign against the threatened closure of Honley Library. Now that the future of the building is more secure the focus of the group has changed. Being a member of FoHL now means that you support the continuation of a library service provided by Kirklees Council but with significant additional support from volunteers who are part of the local community.
Most importantly, it means that you support the ongoing development of the library as a key part of the Honley Community; that is, of a building that is owned and run by the community for the community to facilitate activities and events that are not just about books and reading.
Being a member of FoHL may mean volunteering for any of the varied roles within the organisation, or maybe you prefer to give your support by sharing your enthusiasm and attending some of the many events and activities that regularly take place. Maybe you just want to keep up to date with developments at the library or check out the news and follow events and book reviews.
Please join us and become a Friend of Honley Library to keep updated with all the activities and services we provide in the local community.
By signing up below and providing your email address you understand that we will email you in relation to the Friends of Honley Library and are agreeing to receive emails from us with no further obligation. We will not pass your contact details on to any third party.
FoHL members will have agreed to provide their e-mail contact details and will therefore receive advance notice of events and activities before these are shared via the website and other social media platforms. This may be especially beneficial for those events that are particularly popular.
You will also receive agendas and minutes of Annual General Meetings and be able to send your thoughts and ideas for consideration by the Management Committee and Trustees.
Every member of FoHL will have something to offer that will contribute to the development of a service that will make our community a better place to live.
