The collection of poems appears to be a reaction to Homer’s tales of the Gods and the way that women are portrayed and the treatment they received at that time. Men do not come out of the poems well. The collection is entertaining, funny and interesting. Well written with some lovely imagery and the use of lyrical language. Some of the references may prompt readers of the future to enquire as to whom the celebrities were and why they were included.
For some the choice of this collection and being poetry meant they were not over enthused by the thought of it being the “set” text however there was consensus that they were a good read; however we did wonder if a man may have found the contents less humorous. Read Mrs Icarus to see why we wondered that!
