Exciting Times for Honley Library
Thanks to the generosity of the people and businesses of Honley and the Holme Valley Parish Council, we managed to raise the money we need to build our library extension. We were helped in this by the Holme Valley Land Charity who donated up to £105,000 which has enabled us to go ahead now. This additional money means that we can complete all of the work in addition to the extension, namely a remodelled front entrance, new skylights, solar panels, a remodelled kitchen area and a general interior refurbishment.
The tender process has now started and we hope to appoint a contractor in early February, and start work in the spring. The drawings are on view in the library.
We have been so fortunate in the support we have received from so many people and the variety of activities that have taken place. Tom Dixon, Chair of the Land Charity, said ‘The Friends of Honley Library have done such a great job securing grants and fundraising locally for this important project’.
